Dovi's Digest Volume 14
A weekly newsletter for all your intellectual, spiritual and physical needs
Hi All, and welcome to Volume 14 of Dovi’s Digest.
Ove the past seven days, some momentous changes have taken place here in South Africa. It isn’t political upheaval or economic ruin. No, it’s far more important than that. For the first time in five months, we are finally allowed to buy alcohol and tobacco products. And even though I’m not a smoker or drinker, I took full advantage by having one whole beer and even contemplated smoking a cigar. Certain other less consequential things took place too. There was a peace deal in the middle east, a guy was officially asked to run in a presidential campaign, and an alleged election took place in Eastern Europe.
In admin news, we are close to having the Digest being sent as a proper newsletter with a mailing list. Please make sure you add dovisdigest@gmail.com to your address book to make sure you keep getting all this tasty content.
In this week's edition, we have secret spy iPods that definitely don’t exist, how living on a superyacht isn’t actually all that great, nor is organic farm to table, COVID’s economic consequences from people on the ground, a whole new meaning of the phrase “going backwards”, a ghost town that shouldn’t exist and my pick of the week, the design thinking behind LEGO interface panels.
There were three correct answers to last week’s riddle. Congrats to Daniel Rabinovitch, Ori Tobias and Josh Hazan. The answer and this week’s riddle are below.
We’re approaching the 200 subscriber mark, so thank you very much to all those who are referring friends, and welcome to all of those who are on the list via my Facebook posts and others’ referrals. Those of you who aren’t spreading the love, I’m not angry, I’m disappointed.
Keep those articles (and everything else) coming!
All the best

Brainteaser of the Week:
There are eight floors in an apartment building. The fifth floor has the only apartment with two bedrooms. Mrs Barber has a baby and cannot carry a pram upstairs when the lift is out of order. Mr and Mrs Elder also find climbing difficult now that they’re retired. Mr Archer likes the peace and quiet of living on the top floor. Mrs Cook and her daughter need a two bedroom flat. Mr and Mrs Hooper live just below Mr Archer. Mrs Cook lives above Mr Gardner and below Mrs Driver. Mr and Mrs Fisher live above Mr and Mrs Elder.
Who lives where?
Last week’s Brainteaser and answer:
Sue planted four times as many apple seeds as she planted orange seeds. 15% of the apple seeds grew into trees and 10% of the orange seeds grew into trees.
If a total of 420 trees grew from the seeds, how many orange seeds did Sue plant?
Answer:
600
